Since 2011, we repealed nearly 2,000 lines of Indiana Code and eliminated more than 70 government boards and commissions totaling more than 600 government appointments. The number of Indiana public employees has also steadily dropped during that same time period. We continued our momentum during the 2018 session by once again making government efficiency a top legislative priority. A new law repeals seven chapters, 72 sections and 27 reports in the Indiana Code that are outdated, unused or duplicative. The law also consolidates 35 standalone reports or reporting requirements into more accessible formats to improve transparency.
To help find more government efficiencies on the local level, a new law will result in workload decreases for various officials and departments by streamlining processes. Moving forward, I remain committed to making sure Hoosier taxpayers are getting the most efficient government services at the lowest cost.
